Ranger Immortal Lightning Arrow
Introduction
Primary Skill
Basics
Lightning Arrow together with the support gems Lesser Multiple Projectiles and Chain is a strong combination used by many builds. This builds' goal is to make you incredibly tanky, while still doing great amounts of damage. The damage output relies on your bow, which is the only item that you have to upgrade every now and then, while leveling, to maintain your damage. By picking up a lot of survivability from the passive tree, leveling will be easy and allow a safe end game environment.
Build Strengths
- Excellent AoE damage potential
- Able to take high amounts of damage
- High elemental resistances, easy to overcap
- Can do any map mod
- Strong in solo as well as group
- Easy to level
Build Weaknesses
- High level regen life rares might take long to kill
- Hard to solo maps if undergeared

Posted 6/9/2013 8:59:53 PMLoving this build so far. Act 1 Cruel and tearing through it. I have to disagree about taking blood magic second though. The ability to use 5 Life potions instead of some combination of Life/Mana has been a life saver more than a detriment to my ability to run. Prior to getting it I was constantly running out of mana while using Rain of Arrows with no supports on it. After getting it never had a problem.

Posted 5/21/2013 4:17:06 PM@ Lvl 54 now with this build. 4l chest and 5l bow. hp @ 2400, all res at 55%. Passives followed as per the link.
I am VERY disappointed with the LA and frenzy dps! I have a 5 l grove bow with good stats... all gems on 4l and 5l is q10+ these include life on hit and life leach respectively.
I have a Ground Slam and Freeze Pulse build thats lvl 80 plus. Playing with LA Rangers it seemed that they have quite a bit of dps. Thus far in my experience this is not the case. Maybe not a high dps build....

Posted 5/22/2013 9:05:22 AMwell, if you have crap physical dmg bow, and 3 ele on it and you took Iron Grip, then you made wrong choices. Iron Grip obviously works for physical dmg only, thus, you should not have ele dmg bow until you hit close to those ele dmg nodes in templar area (then respec out of IG and take them, thats what I did). If you wish to prolong those ele dmg nodes in templar tree and go for resolute tech and upwards into chnace to shock then stick to physical dmg bow. Since LA converts 50% of physical into lightning dmg and iron grip boosts your physical, pure physical bow with decent APS will boost your LA dmg. And keep in mind, LA is used on groups, not on single targets. Frenzy is used to shoot 3 times to get charges, then use something else, like ele hit linked to weapon ele dmg, faster attacks etc. Your best single target dmg is those 3 (or 6) bear traps. at your level they probably do 1200dmg each, pure physical, so spam those onto rare mob, finnish off with ele hit.
Since we all get our hands on different pieces of gear, it's hard to follow guide to the letter or recommend something that will work for everyone dmg wise. For instance, rings with 20-50 added cold dmg will probably work way way better than rings with +29% to weapon elemental dmg until you get really good really good ele bow (like 270+ ele dps, not 170 so). Only now, at lvl 62, I am realizing why this build has 2 bear traps, rare golems are though nuts to crack for instance.
PS. 2400hp and -60 chaos is going to be a big problem for you. BIG problem. You should get HP on every single item you wear (save for bow), people tend to get +% to weapon ele dmg on quivers, disregarding resists and hp. That's suicide. Use your heads people, you shoot using HP, you live longer with more HP, you regen more with more HP, you are ranged, you can kill stuff offscreen, position yourselves, don't tank mobs if you absolutely don't have to (even then, look for escape path). Though packs? Use posion arrows and run away. Use decoy totem often to make mobs group for your LA shoot. Use your heads :)

Posted 5/21/2013 9:02:55 AMIf you can't get your hand on Elemental hit or love to get the last hits on bosses, simply use Culling Strike as 6th link on Frenzy. On higher lvls it even boosts your damage (20+20 CS is +22% Damage and +10% Attack Speed!!!) and the 10% insta-kill is insane vs. certain bosses like Piety or Gravicius, because it works through their ES.

Posted 5/22/2013 9:10:44 AM6th link? That's not a very constructive advice now is it? :) I mean, cheapest 6L chest is tabula rasa. Ok, maybe one can get lucky and find someone selling white 6L for crafting but even that won't go for less than 4-5 ex. Lioneye's would be far better investment, change this build a bit, leave iron grip, dont take res. tech. etc.

Posted 5/23/2013 4:00:48 PMThat was not my point. I was trying to say, that Culling Strike is an option for Elemental Hit, nothing else.

Posted 5/16/2013 9:46:03 AMAt level 25 the build feels like it's starting to fall behind or maybe my gear is falling behind. The tankiness is beginning to become apparent, however, all the fights are long and drawn out when you do less than 100 dps and mana runs out very quickly. Is this build gonna be a drag like this till blood magic? any tips or advice to resolve the issues?
thanks!

Posted 5/17/2013 9:37:38 AMuntil you hit blood magic - kinda drag, yea. Try and find mana regen gear/jewelry, I had dual mana regen stat blue necklace that gave ~45-50% mana regen and I carried 3 mana flasks. Still it was painful. Try using ice shot/burning arrow/poison arrow instead of LA (those cost less mana and can be great dmg dealers), I am still using poison arrow/rain of arrows combo, cheap and effective combo. Use LA only on groups of 4+ especially if you have LMP on it. If you already have LMP on it at lvl 25, take it of, you don't really need it, spam rain of arrows, poison arrow or ice shot instead.

Posted 5/12/2013 11:03:16 PMWhy get the 12% in Accuracy when you have Resolute Techniques, and two 8% Projectile Damage(s) to get to Perfect Aim when you don't go up to get Iron Grip? I'm new to PoE so this question might seem newbish. Thanks in advance for your help.

Posted 5/13/2013 12:22:38 AMwhere do you see 12% to acc in final build? Or, in mid build for that matter? I don't follow you.
edit: oh I see, but that's just the node you cannot avoid, they have to be linked.
