Shadow Freeze Pulse Tank
Very short intro to the Shadow Freeze Pulse Tank.
Build
Endgame Build
Normal
Starting with a quality Freezing Pulse gem will make this build far stronger than normal. If this is not an option, pick up Freezing Pulse from your Hillock reward and try to get dual wands right after buying your first coral ring. Progressing through the act should be a lot easier after you kill Brutus and obtain Clarity aura. You should use Clarity as you wont be using a Blood Magic support until later in the game. Using Fire Trap along with whatever skills of your choosing, you should be able to make it to Act 2 without too much difficulty. Once you complete Weavers Chambers quest, you will get Lesser Multiple Projectiles support gem. With this gem, your character will be out of control until merciless. Focus on life nodes as your damage will be sufficient for a long time. Help Oak for the life reward. Choose the Added Lightning gem from the General Gravicious quest.
Cruel
Try to find at least one wand with projectiles speed mod in addition to spell damage. Checking vendors and identifying every blue wand drop will make this happen. Act 1 should still be quite easy as you are taking a large amount of life nodes. Make sure to pick up the Life Leech support gem from the Hailrake quest, and begin leveling it. Through the end of Act 1 you should pick up some energy shield armor pieces and take the Eldritch Battery passive. This will allow you to support your cast without having to use the Blood Magic gem. Keep an eye out for four linked armor pieces colored blue, blue, green, green. Once you've made it through part of Act 2 and completed the Weavers quest again, choose Faster Projectiles as the reward. Using Freeze Pulse with Faster Projectiles, Lesser Multiple Projectiles, and Added Lightning will give you enough damage to cruise through Act 3 into Merciless. During this time, try to travel across the skill tree into the Templar. You may help Alira for the 4% cast speed bonus, but I suggest killing all the bandits for the skill point instead. If you encounter monsters that hit too hard in cruel, use Enfeeble instead of Frostbite.
Merciless
Once you've made it to Merciless, it is a good idea to farm a little bit. You should farm Ledge at least until 55 so you can at get the second Fitness passive in the Templar tree. If you find a 5 linked chest, use your Life Leech gem with your Freeze Pulse combo. If you only have a 4 linked item, but are struggling with staying alive, replace the Added Lightning gem with Life Leech. Keep your distance from monsters and use any kind of totem, preferably a decoy, to tank. Consider using a shield for resists until your gear improves. You won't be very tanky until you get some good gear first. Farm Fellshrine until you feel comfortable progressing. Kill all the bandits, Vaal, and begin farming City of Sarn. Your goal as a Freeze Pulse tank is to get most of the life nodes before starting maps. This is possible at level 70, after completing all the quests in Act 3.
Maps
Take it easy in maps until you are higher level and your gear improves. You can continue to use Eldritch Battery, coupled with Discipline and Clarity aura to fuel your casts -- but, you should be leveling four Blood Magic support gems and trying to get a 5 linked chest. The fifth link should be the Blood Magic gem, while replacing the Faster Projectiles gem with either Added Lightning or Life Leech, whichever is not currently used. At level 75 your build should look like this, and have made the transition to Blood Magic gems. From this point on, all you get are damage passives as you level.

Posted 5/13/2013 5:17:19 PMI am working toward switching over to Taryns and Kaom. When you make the switch over to Taryns Shiver and Kaoms, how do you compensate for the loss of all the armor and resists that were provided by the chest and shield. All of a sudden you lose a couple thousand armor and 30-50 resists. Are you just doing so much damage and leeching so much life back at this point it doesn't matter? Or how do you survive high level maps with the loss of the armor and resists?

Posted 5/14/2013 3:11:55 AMWith grace up, you still have round 5k+ armor, then utilize granite flasks then needed and you will be fine.
And if you want be flexible, with Purity up - you must have capped resists even at elemental weakness maps. Can be expensive to get resists+life and decent armor on gear, but i would prioritize resists and then slowly upgrade gear.

Posted 5/5/2013 9:42:17 AMIf you play Hardcore you should go with this one. Aimlessgun's is somewhat of a glass cannon, having much less life and also being able to run fewer auras because it's not EB or BM gem. He even says so: "Not a hardcore build without modification. It can be played in HC, but does not sufficiently protect you from bad play mistakes or desync", "Not a build that allows you to facetank things".
If you play Default it doesn't really matter either way I'd assume.

Posted 5/5/2013 11:03:47 AMFor first character i would recommend this build because gearing is easier and more you have better survivibility.
I follow this build mostly except for the added lightning damage part because i am skeptical about whether it really shock mobs that needed to be shocked ( boss/ rare)
I am doing 1.9K dps with cold penetration and i kill things with ok-ish speed. you dont really need tons of dps in this game as it will mostly overkill especially if you plan to solo.
Some may argue that it is ok to be glass cannon in default. But I need to point out that, it is only true when you are under 80 level, if you would like to push further than that, you need to start to invest some serious currency in modding your map. And death not only cost you the time but also the currency you invested. At that level, you'd better have a mind set like in hardcore and minimize the risk as much as possible.
Just to let you know, even with my humble dps, I nearly one-shot myself serveral time to a pack of reflect mob, and i have 83 res and 4.5K life.
Imagine doing that with a char with way more dps, 78% res (at most) and much less hp

Posted 5/5/2013 1:52:12 PMThanks for the info, it is exactly why i don't want a glass cannon build. Thanks for info, im not sure about the lightning part though either, is the dps that much greater then say if u just concentrated on your ice skills and crits.
Edit: is there a way to have this build but not use blood magic?

Posted 5/6/2013 11:41:14 AMYou can start as Templar and start with the mana regeneration / elemental damage / mana path then take the same route to marauder life nodes and you take eldrich battery when you are reaching for the shadow tree. You will then run discipline and clarity. You will miss some damage nodes from shadow tree, and you will need to plan your gear more carefully because you will need a mix of ar and es gear instead of pure Armour. It is possible that you can run fp from mana regeneration alone if your es is good enough and free up a gem slot for whatever support you would like. You may need to calculate the minimum mana/es you need to support spamming FP when planning your gear. It is completely viable. just a bit complicated and can potentially reach higher dps as you can have one more support
Edit: I also want to add that items with good hp and es are expensive

Posted 5/6/2013 4:29:06 PMThanks for this, nice to have my questions answered for once lol well i am now lvl 46 shadow have followed kripps build but before i go into Templar section i took the mana regen nodes near shadow and will probably get the crit chance nodes near it to help my damage out. I am running my 4 link fp with 12% q (dropped the other day spent hours leveling it lol) just off of regen and lvl 5 clarity. I have a decent amount of es but my armour is low and hp is only 900 so far so i use a skellie totem as a decoy (till i get some gear to use ice spear gmp) i know its meant to be a tank build anyway but till i have everything i need from Templar region to follow kripps build, will be playing like this. It has made me see though how aimlessguns build will be glass cannon like.

Posted 5/2/2013 4:03:28 PMJust wondering is Maligaro's a viable glove to use end game? Or should I sacrifice the crit chance for just more armor and health.

Posted 5/5/2013 11:23:52 AMi am using it and it is ok. it boost my dps from 1.6K to 1.9K which is quite a lot.
I think it is a ok choice as you can use the rings to cover your defensive needs ( they do not offer much offensive boost for this build, only cold damage and cast speed)
and this build is lacking cri multiplier in the skill tree given the high cri chance. so the glove compliment this build build quite well.
But make sure you have your defensive side covered or you will one-shot yourself
